A Night at UNR...

Since I was up in Reno, I figured not only could I check out the campus for cool pictures, but I could also try to capture some interesting night shots. I ended up finding some lit up sculptures and trees and tried to use the lights as a neat effect, like making the trees look ghostly :) My favorite ended up being in the reflection of one of the big windows looking into the library - I actually made it look like there was a tree inside! :) Although I was trying to get better at taking pictures in the dark, I feel like I kinda cheated, since there were lights and it made it ten million times easier for me. I ended up with some cool pictures either way though. Oh yeah, and the last one was my quick attempt at being Andy Warhol for the day...or rather, night. :)

Fail.

Epic fail for Feb 27. I apologize. I was going to bring my camera to the second of my boyfriend's shows, but it was extremely crowded and I didn't want the camera getting knocked out of my hand or touched by people. I did, however, bring my little point and shoot camera, so I still got at least a few pictures :) Here are the only two worth showing...ha.

This is Kristen and Mario, my friends...I just happened to catch a really cute moment :)

Tahoe Show!

So, my pictures for Feb 26 were taken at one of my boyfriend's shows up in Tahoe. It is really hard to shoot in low light without flash! I survived only because of the lens I was using (50mm), and only because it was a 1.4. That allowed me to get light on them, but the trade off is that I had a really difficult time focusing since just a tiny area was in focus and they kept moving. GR. Either way, I got a couple of cool shots, here they are :)

Back to the Fountains!

Amber and I went back to the Fountains today, just to see what it looked like in the daytime. I got a bad headache, so we headed home early, but I did manage to get a few cool pictures. At least I tried to get out and shoot today! I messed around a lot with aperture and shutter speed today, trying to get the water to look blurred from the fountain that was spraying up water. I have to admit, it was easier last night with the few colors as lights instead of the crazy bright sun, but I got a couple of shots that looked close to what I was aiming for. I also am scheduling a photo shoot with Shelby and her husband coming up soon! That will be an excellent photo adventure, as well as great for my portfolio! :)

As always, happy photog-ing!

2 more...

So, I had two more adventures :) On Feb 22nd, I got to hang out with my best friend, Rachel, and not only did we go to a movie, have a burger at The Habit and go for a walk, but I got to take pictures with her! It's fun to photograph things by yourself, but with a friend is totally great. So, here's a few shots from that trip :)

Fun fun walk with Dach :) I got to test out my dad's Pentax K20 while Dach used my Pentax istD. Definitely a difference there.

Then, last night (Feb 24), my sister Amber and I went to the Fountains in Roseville and took some pictures there. I got some really cool shots of the water there. Here you go :)

Adventure ONE

Alright, time to start off my 365 PHOTO ADVENTURES!! I'm going to take pictures every day, at least until I can get one or two really really good photos per day. I'm hoping to perfect my photography skills and get into a habit of taking pictures every day to help with my photography business, Thousand Words Photography (www.photo1k.com).

Today, I went outside and looked around for anything picture-worthy. What I found surprised me, considering it was in my own backyard! Here are the cool flower pictures for today :)

Now, unfortunately, I didn't charge the batteries for my digital SLR camera (my Pentax istD) so these pictures are actually taken on my little pink point and shoot camera. I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out actually :) From now on though, I need to make sure to get my batteries charged every night so I can continue the adventures! :)
